Special Cut and Brushing / Lapping / Sun Cut Watch Case

The lapping / the sun cut of a watch case is a special finishing of the watch case. Over time, the grinding pattern of your wristwatch will wear out or there may be scratches in the grinding pattern that break the symmetry of the decorative cut. Straight edges are rounded off by incorrect polishing or heavy use.

Lapping your watch renews the grinding pattern. Broken and unclean edges can be corrected so that the original shape of the watch case is restored.

I´m a specialist in the aesthetic refurbishment and renewal of the decorative cuts on watch cases. Lapping a watch case requires years of experience, special machinery and manual skills.

Every change of the grinding pattern is always a critical process, I do not change the shape of the watch case or the texture of the cuts. When lapping, I remove the smallest possible part of material of the watch case. Straight surfaces and edges are renewed so that the original shape is restored.

Aesthetic refurbishment of watch cases and bracelets is my speciality. The latest laser welding technology enables me to carry out refurbishments and restorations with very little material removal. After processing, I achieve sharp edges and surfaces, precise transitions and a perfect grinding pattern finish.
